His Grace Raphael P'Mony Wokorach Visit USHG: A Pastoral Visit

On Friday August 8, 2025, His Grace Raphael P’Mony Wokorach, Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese and Chancellor of University of the Sacred Heart Gulu made a Pastoral Visit to University of the Sacred Heart Gulu underscoring his commitment of evangelization through education. This was the first official visit to the University since his installation as the Second University Chancellor on May 2, 2025.

He celebrated Holy Mass with the University Community, met with the Catechist students who are currently attending a Preliminary Course in Pastoral Ministry and Catechesis and staff of the University.

During his homily, the Archbishop reminded the congregation that challenges will always be there in our lives but as Christians, we should always be joyful in what we do because whatever we feel inside our hearts is manifested in our faces. He re-echoed Proverbs 15:13 “A joyful heart brightens face”. The Archbishop compared the roles of Catechists to that of the midwives stressing that just like midwives bring out life, Catechists bring out faith.

The Archbishop while addressing the Catechist students noted that catechesis is a vocation and therefore the catechists should strive to be a saintly or holy catholic and that they should ensure that their faith is practised in their families while maintaining truthfulness in everything they do or say. He further emphasized daily reading of the holy book and punctuality as a sign of vocation by the catechists.

While meeting USHG Staff, the Archbishop expressed his gratitude to the staff for their roles and contribution towards the realization of mission and vision of the University and acknowledged the diversity of the experiences each staff brings to the University calling upon the senior and more experienced staff to nurture and mentor the young ones.
