University of the Sacred Heart Gulu (USHG) staff and students undergo COVID-19 training

COVID-19 infections and deaths continue to increase both locally and internationally. University of the Sacred Heart Gulu (USHG) through its COVID-19 University taskforce is responding and preparing its community to effectively contain the disease.

The University’s COVID-19 taskforce conducted a training on COVID-19 prevention for its key stake holders i.e. the professors, staff and students on Saturday 14th November 2020. The training was conducted by members of the Gulu district COVID-19 task force together with medical specialists from St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor covering the three dimensions of prevention i.e primary, secondary and tertiary.

The COVID-19 prevention training empowered the staff and students at the USHG with: –

  1. Accurate knowledge about the coronavirus, its nature and modes of transmission and effects on the human body.
  2. The practical skills necessary for prevention of infection by the coronavirus.
  3. The knowledge and skills for effectively managing COVID-19 in cases of suspected infections or infection
  4. The pathways of linking with other key stakeholders who are engaged in COVID 19 preventative work in the local community.
