University of the Sacred Heart Gulu connects to national backbone fibre cable for faster and reliable internet

With the need to widen and facilitate e-learning, international collaboration and research capacity, University of the Sacred Heart Gulu (USHG) is currently being connected to the national backbone fiber cable-based network by the National Information Technology Authority (NITA) of Uganda. This connection is aimed at increasing access to high speed internet connectivity, addressing inequitable access to ICT resources, slow internet speeds and penetration, as well as high data costs.
With this connection, USHG shall benefit from the National Data Transmission Backbone Infrastructure and e-Government Infrastructure Project which is being implemented by the Government of Uganda through the National Information Technology Authority (NITA) of Uganda. The project is aimed connecting all major towns, institutions and government agencies within Uganda.

University of the Sacred Heart Gulu now joins the list of other public universities in Uganda that have been connected to fiber optic cable across Uganda.
