TRAINING OPPORTUNITY: ADVANCED EXCEL FOR DATA ANALYSIS WITH ODK (Open Data Kit)

University of the Sacred Heart Gulu – Center for Data Science (CEDS) invites applications from interested persons for a five day training in ADVANCED EXCEL FOR DATA ANALYSIS WITH ODK from 13th-17th January 2020.

Today, every organization needs persons with skills of Data collection, preparation, analysis and presentation of the analyzed data (Data analytics). Every decision maker in any organization needs to at least understand the basic of statistical analysis and when and where to apply them. This training will help participants to understand how statistics can help their organizations, which areas in the organizations to apply statistical analysis and how to get the data to run the analysis.

COURSE TITLE: Advanced Excel for Data Analysis with ODK (Open Data Kit)

The course is designed to equip you with knowledge and skills to design experiments, undertake data collection, exploratory data analysis and reporting/presentation. Students will also be introduced to Pivot Tables, ODK/Kobo and smartphones for data collections, data cleaning, validation, analysis and presentations.

DURATION: 5 Days (13th – 17th January, 2020)

TARGET: Higher institution students (Students in Research, Students preparing for research), Graduates, professionals handling data, researchers and research assistants, Monitoring and evaluation staff, data clerks and individuals interested in data analysis. Applicants need to have a basic understanding of Microsoft Excel.

Mr. Richard Okello is a consultant in Information Management Systems with specialization in Information Management (Data Analysis, Research, Data mapping and visualization (Geo-Information Systems- GIS, Data coding and application with smartphones for research and surveys, capacity in computer applications (coding, ODK/Kobo, GIS. Software packages, databases, etc.)

He has over 20 years’ experience having worked with both National and International Organizations like United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), European Union, and United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Uganda)

Mr. Okello earned his Bachelors degree of Computing Systems from UNITEC Institute of Technology- New Zealand, Master of Science in Information Systems from Uganda Martyrs’ University, and a National Certificate in Business Computing (CBC) from Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki, New Zealand.
