Ten strategic focus areas highlighted for the development of University of the Sacred Heart Gulu in the next 5 years.

University of the Sacred Heart Gulu has launched its second five-year strategic plan for the period 2021/22 – 2025/26 with a focus on ten (10 ) key strategic areas and five strategic goals. The new strategic plan now sets the motion for the new mission of the University to generate, accumulate and transfer knowledge, skills, and experiences for the holistic growth and development of individuals and society.

The plan was launched by Most Reverend Dr. John Baptist Odama on 23rd arch 2022 at the university campus flanked by the Board of Trustees of the Archdiocese of Gulu, the Governing Council, University officers, and key development partners and stakeholders from different parts of the world. The University also unveiled its new vision which is “a healthy society open to holistic growth and development”.

In the first five years of operation (2016 -2021), the University’s strategic focus was on building institutional structures and processes that would facilitate the transition from “University of the Sacred Heart project” to an established, credible, firm, scalable, and sustainable institution. The new five-year strategic plan for 2021/22-2025/26 now focuses on developing the following:

  1. Infrastructure and Facilities
  2. Program Development
  3. Students’ Enrollment and Retention
  4. Technology and E-Learning
  5. Staffing
  6. Research
  7. Policy Development, Review, and Streamlining Governance
  8. Collaboration and Networking
  9. Resource Mobilization
  10. Community Engagement and Empowerment

The launch event included presentations and discussions of the strategic plan by a panel of experts which included Eng. Dr. Prof. Peter Okidi Lating, Dr. Laurance F. Bove, and Dr. Rose B. Namara.
