Business Intelligence and Data Analytics is a discipline that uses digital tools and strategies to analyze business data. The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics (PGD BIA) program of the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu (USHG) is a post-graduate level program designed to promote the critical & analytical understanding of data fluidity and its applications in daily business decisions. The program provides the foundational knowledge, skills, and tools to support data-driven decision-making. through business intelligence tools and applications used to collect and interpret data from various sources. The program enhances knowledge and skills in management reporting and performance management, data analytics and information strategy & governance, data warehousing, and understanding how they can use them to make better business decisions.
The program is mainly suited for people who are excited to find patterns, work with large amounts of data, and use it to derive the change in their company, organization, or community. Students pursuing the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics program at the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu shall be oriented towards an adaptable and flexible mindset focused on achieving sustainable results. collaborating and working in teams and gaining openness to innovation, particularly to new patterns and trends which are shaping today’s business, digital, and technological environment.
The target group for this program will be;
i. Persons who have attained a degree in Business related studies, Computing, Information Technology, Information Systems, Informatics, or a degree in other STEM-related fields from a recognized institution.
ii. Business, institutional or organizational employees in public, private, and NGO sectors who wish to acquire practical and professional skills for business intelligence and data analytics.
iii. Business managers who want to advance their present careers, or acquire new skills to re-direct their careers, or seeking to expand their expertise in dealing with new executive management tasks.
To be admitted to the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Intelligence and Analytics program of the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu, a candidate should be a holder of a degree OR a recognized relevant professional qualification from an accredited degree-awarding institution or its equivalents and working experience of least one year.
Admission requirements for international applicants:
1. Applicants whose first language or medium of instruction is not English must provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of the English language.
2. Have documentary evidence of Internship Training indicating disciplines and dates.
3. International applicants should have their documents verified by NCHE.
4. International applicants should have their degree certificate and transcript translated and converted into an equivalent of Ugandan Universities’ CGPA
i. Also, all candidates must satisfy the general admission requirements to the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu. Minimum weighted points shall be set by the Admissions Board.
ii. Employment is not a pre-requisite for enrolment and the courses are deemed full-time
CONDUCT OF THE PROGRAM
The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics program of the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu is a 1-year postgraduate program. The program shall be conducted in class through weekend and evening schedules. The program shall also be conducted through the block release mode using an e-learning blended approach.
Weekday lecture classes shall be conducted in class (face to face) and shall run from Friday at 4:00 pm to 9:00pm, on Saturday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and on Sunday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Evening programs shall be conducted in class (face to face) and shall run from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm Monday to Friday, and weekends for practical-based courses.
Block Release mode
The program shall be delivered using the block release mode to allow those students who work to maintain full-time work while undertaking the program. In the block release model, precise block-mode courses shall be offered in designated weeks consistent with the university schedule. Teaching and learning shall be conducted through the University’s e-learning portal which shall enable lecturers and students to use online platforms to deliver lectures, provide for student’s questions, responses, and contributions. The platform shall also make learning materials, quizzes, and assignments accessible to students without necessarily them coming to class. However, all practice-based courses and end-of-semester examinations shall be conducted in class.
