The second students’ Guild Council of the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu (USHG) was installed on the 13th December 2019 in a colorful ceremony at the University Campus. The event also witnessed the swearing-in of leaders of the USHG chapter of the Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA), the welcoming of freshmen students and thanksgiving for the first lot of pioneer students admitted to the University three years ago which is due to graduate soon.
The event was officiated by the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Jino O. Mwaka who recognized the contributions of the first Guild Council in setting a firm foundation and structures for consequent student guild activities. He also called upon the new students’ Guild Council to “offer service above self”.
The Vice Chancellor also used the opportunity to recognize and congratulate two of our own students and Guild Council members; Mr. Jimmy Lubel and Mr. Deogracious Okello who were elected to the regional Inter- Institutional Students’ Council (ISUCU) in the positions of President and General Secretary respectively. The Inter- Institutional Students’ Council (ISUCU) is an association that brings together all guild and UNSA representatives from schools and institutions of learning around Uganda.
