Bachelor of Information Systems (BIS)
Course Information
The Bachelor of Information Systems (BIS) program, code ISS, is a three-year full-time degree offered by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, ICT Department at the University of the Sacred Heart Gulu. The program focuses on integrating information technology solutions and business processes to meet the information needs of businesses and other enterprises.
Students gain knowledge and skills required to plan, develop, and deploy technology-based business solutions while understanding the strategic role of information systems in organizations and the influential role of technology in society. The curriculum converts IT innovations into sustainable organizational value through systematic processes aimed at the development and transformation of society.
Teaching methodologies include lectures, tutorials, laboratory works (practicals), project-work, individual readings, case-studies, and internships (fieldwork). The program is offered physically at the university during weekdays.
Duration: 3 years (6 semesters + 2 recess terms)
Study Mode: Weekday (On-campus)
Assessment: Coursework 40% | Examination 60%

Entry Requirements
- Direct Entry: UACE or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes obtained at the same sitting, plus a minimum of 5 passes at UCE obtained at the same sitting, including Mathematics and English.
- Diploma Holders: At least a Second Class (Lower Division) diploma in Computer Science or a relevant field with a credit pass in Mathematics and English at O-level.
- Mature Entry: Passing examinations set by the University of the Sacred Heart.
- Essential Subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Agriculture, and Technical Drawing.
