University of the Sacred Heart Gulu welcomes new Uganda Country Director for The Center for Victims of Torture(CVT)

University of the Sacred Heart Gulu (USHG) hosted a delegation from the Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) – Uganda on campus. The team comprised the new CVT – Uganda Country Director, Mr. Francis Rogers, the CVT Donor Representative, Ms. Delphine Sherwood, and the CVT Psychotherapy specialist, Mr. Gabrielle Marin .CVT- Uganda extends rehabilitative care to survivors of torture who were affected by the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) conflict and, works with mental health counselors in the region with ongoing intensive training and supervision. USHG and CVT- Uganda have had a long history and working relationship in the field of mental health and trauma counselling. USHG and CVT – Uganda partner in offering capacity building, and mentorship for USHG counseling students. In the meeting, the two institutions reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together in addressing Mental Health challenges in Uganda. In his communication, the USHG Deputy Vice Chancellor, Mr. Geoffrey Lamtoo welcomed the new CTV- Uganda country Director and pledged the commitment of the USHG in supporting the shared vision of the two institutions.
